The short version
You can read Polyview without an account, and we don't use advertising trackers or sell personal data. If you create an account, we store the minimum needed to sync your saved stories and reading history across devices.
Without an account
Your reading history, saved stories and theme preference are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device until you clear them on the My News Bias page or in your browser settings. Outlet logos are loaded from DuckDuckGo's icon service and story images load directly from each publisher's servers, which may see your IP address, as with any web request.
With an account
We store:
- your email address, an optional display name, and a securely hashed password (or the identity provider you signed in with);
- stories you save, stories you open, and which outlet's article you clicked through to, with timestamps.
We use this only to provide your account features, such as saved stories and My News Bias. Access is restricted so only you can read your rows. Our database and authentication are hosted by Supabase; the website is hosted by our hosting provider. Both act as our processors.
Your choices
You can edit your name, change your password, clear your reading history, or permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account page. Deletion takes effect immediately.
